Qualifications and Preferred Experience:
- Valid teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) or eligibility to obtain one
- Demonstrated experience working with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, ideally across K-12 grade levels
- Familiarity with individualized education plans (IEPs) and adapting instruction to meet each student’s unique needs
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, families, and administrators
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) preferred
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students in the DHH program, tailoring lessons and accommodations to individual learning goals
- Develop and implement IEPs, monitor student progress, and participate in IEP meetings
- Support and collaborate with general education teachers to foster inclusive learning environments
- Promote deaf culture awareness and effective communication strategies throughout the school community
- Engage with families, ensuring open lines of communication and support
