Qualifications and Preferred Experience:

  • Valid teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) or eligibility to obtain one
  • Demonstrated experience working with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, ideally across K-12 grade levels
  • Familiarity with individualized education plans (IEPs) and adapting instruction to meet each student’s unique needs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, families, and administrators
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) preferred

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction and support to students in the DHH program, tailoring lessons and accommodations to individual learning goals
  • Develop and implement IEPs, monitor student progress, and participate in IEP meetings
  • Support and collaborate with general education teachers to foster inclusive learning environments
  • Promote deaf culture awareness and effective communication strategies throughout the school community
  • Engage with families, ensuring open lines of communication and support
