Preferred Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid teaching certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) students
- Experience as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing in school settings
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and/or other communication modes used by DHH students
- Ability to create and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with students, families, and school staff
- Commitment to promoting equity and access in education
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver tailored instruction for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing based on IEP goals
- Assess students’ language, academic, and social-emotional needs and monitor progress
- Facilitate communication between students and the wider school community through direct instruction, interpretation support, or assistive technology as appropriate
- Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families to ensure holistic support for each student
- Advocate for classroom accommodations and modifications that enhance each student’s learning experience
- Maintain accurate documentation and participate in IEP and multi-disciplinary team meetings
