Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Current certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Experience working in educational settings with students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Strong understanding of assistive technology and accommodations for hearing impairments
- Ability to communicate effectively using American Sign Language (ASL) is highly preferred
- Skilled at developing and adapting individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Compassionate, flexible, and committed to fostering an inclusive learning environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, using a variety of communication modalities
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to modify and adapt curriculum to meet student needs
- Conduct assessments and track student progress on educational goals
- Advocate for students’ access and inclusion throughout the school day
- Consult with families, school staff, and related service professionals to provide strategies and resources
- Attend and participate in IEP meetings; contribute expertise regarding hearing loss and educational access
