Qualifications & Experience Sought:
- Valid state certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education (or eligibility for certification)
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or related field
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication modalities for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students
- Experience collaborating with parents, multidisciplinary teams, and other educators
- Strong organizational, communication, and advocacy skills
- Familiarity with assistive technologies and resources tailored for hearing-impaired students
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction to Deaf/Hard of Hearing students in accordance with their IEPs
- Adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to support diverse learning needs and communication preferences
- Foster an engaging, inclusive classroom setting that encourages student confidence and independence
- Collaborate with general education staff to promote integration and understanding within the broader school community
- Maintain detailed progress records, provide assessment data, and contribute to regular IEP meetings
- Support the use of hearing aids, cochlear implants, FM systems, and visual learning tools
- Communicate effectively with families regarding student progress and strategies for success
