Qualifications & Experience:
- Current certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (state credentials preferred)
- Experience working with students with hearing impairments, including knowledge of assistive technology and individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Familiarity with American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication modes for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and school staff
- Passion for advocacy, accessibility, and student success
Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing in various educational settings
- Develop, monitor, and implement goals within students’ IEPs
- Consult and collaborate with classroom teachers, speech-language pathologists, and other support staff
- Advocate for students’ needs and help adapt curriculum materials and classroom environments
- Engage with families and ensure ongoing communication about student progress
- Stay current with best practices and professional development opportunities
