Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid state certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education or a related field
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication modalities
- Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing, ideally in a K-12 school setting
- Strong collaboration skills to work with multidisciplinary teams and support staff
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s needs
- Passion for promoting student engagement, inclusion, and academic growth
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction to students who are deaf/hard of hearing, modifying curriculum and assessments as needed
- Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to facilitate inclusive classroom experiences
- Conduct assessments, track student progress, and participate in eligibility and IEP meetings
- Provide guidance and training to school staff and families about effective communication strategies
- Advocate for students’ needs and accommodations in classroom and extracurricular settings
- Maintain accurate records and comply with all educational standards and legal requirements
