Qualifications and Experience:
- Current certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (state-specific credentials required)
- Experience working with deaf or hard of hearing students in an educational setting
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and/or other communication methods preferred
- Strong knowledge of assistive technology and accommodations for students with hearing loss
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Excellent communication skills with students, parents, and multidisciplinary teams
- Commitment to fostering an accessible and encouraging learning atmosphere
Core Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and group instruction to students with hearing differences
- Assess student abilities and progress, adapting materials and teaching methods
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, audiologists, and other specialists
- Advocate for students’ needs within the educational system
- Facilitate effective communication between students, school staff, and families
- Support the implementation of technology and resources to enhance learning
- Participate in IEP meetings and document student progress regularly
