Desired Qualifications:

  • Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing or eligibility for state licensure
  • Experience working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in a classroom or support role
  • Strong understanding of various communication modalities (ASL, auditory/oral, total communication, etc.)
  • Ability to develop and implement individualized educational plans (IEPs)
  • Effective collaboration skills with multidisciplinary teams
  • Excellent communication and advocacy abilities
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct instruction and support to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
  • Adapt curriculum and teaching strategies to meet individual student needs
  • Participate in IEP meetings and provide expertise in hearing loss and educational access
  • Consult with classroom teachers and staff on accommodations, modifications, and technology use
  • Track and document student progress, adjusting approaches as needed
  • Engage with families to foster understanding and partnership in student learning
