Key Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing or eligibility for licensure
- Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing, preferably in a school setting
- Strong knowledge of educational strategies, accommodations, and assistive technology for DHH students
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication modalities
- Ability to adapt lessons and materials to individualized education programs (IEPs)
- Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, both individually and in groups
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to ensure student success
- Develop and implement IEPs with appropriate goals, accommodations, and modifications
- Monitor student progress, collect data, and adjust strategies as needed
- Advocate for student needs and promote self-advocacy among students
- Provide training and consultation to staff on best practices for working with DHH students
