Key Qualifications:

  • Valid teaching certification with a specialization in Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH)
  • Previous experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing preferred
  • Familiarity with individualized educational plans (IEPs) and assessment strategies
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to provide instruction and modifications tailored to each student’s needs
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive educational experience

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct, one-on-one instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Adapt curriculum and instructional materials to accommodate students’ communication preferences and learning styles
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and other specialized staff to ensure student goals are met
  • Conduct ongoing assessments and actively participate in IEP meetings
  • Maintain detailed records of student progress and provide regular feedback to staff and families
  • Offer guidance and resources to educators regarding best practices for DHH students
  • Engage with families to promote involvement and understanding of student needs
