Desired Qualifications:
- Valid Virginia Teaching License (required)
- Special Education Deaf and Hard of Hearing PreK-12 endorsement
- Demonstrated experience or knowledge working with elementary-aged children
- Strong understanding of various communication modalities, including ASL, spoken language, and assistive technology
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) to meet each student’s unique needs
- Provide direct and consultative services to children who are deaf or hard of hearing within the general education classroom, resource room, or one-on-one settings
- Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, related service providers, and families to foster an inclusive and supportive environment
- Adapt curriculum and teaching methods to ensure accessibility and maximize learning outcomes
- Monitor student progress, conduct assessments, and document results in compliance with district and state requirements
- Advocate for students’ needs, promote self-advocacy skills, and support successful communication strategies throughout the school day
