Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing - Perkins, OK

Desired Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification with a specialization in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education
- Strong understanding of auditory, speech, and language development
- Experience working with children and adolescents who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication methods used with D/HH students
- Ability to collaborate with general and special education staff, families, and related service providers
- Skilled in adapting instructional materials and strategies to meet diverse learning needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative educational services to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Develop and implement individualized educational plans (IEPs) that reflect each student’s unique needs
- Serve as a resource and advocate for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students within the school community
- Facilitate communication between students, peers, and staff through instructional support and assistive technology
- Deliver professional guidance to teachers and families on best practices for supporting D/HH learners
- Regularly monitor and document student progress towards IEP goals
