Qualifications and Experience:
- Holds appropriate certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing, or eligibility to obtain licensure
- Recent experience working with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in a school setting
- Strong skills in assessment, development, and implementation of IEPs
- Proficient in collaborating with general education staff, families, and support personnel
- Knowledge of various communication modalities, including ASL, preferred
- Ability to adapt instructional strategies to meet diverse student needs
- Excellent organizational and communication abilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to Deaf/Hard of Hearing students in accordance with each child’s IEP goals
- Collaborate with staff to adapt curriculum and integrate supports
- Serve as an advocate for students, ensuring access to resources and equitable opportunities
- Offer consultation and training to school personnel and families on best practices and accommodations
- Monitor student progress and adjust interventions as needed
- Maintain accurate records and participate in IEP meetings
