Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (TDHH) | Portage, Indiana
Step into a pivotal role supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing across a diverse educational setting. This contract opportunity, starting August 10th, 2026 and concluding May 28th, 2026, offers the chance to make a lasting impact on learners from Pre-K through grade 13 across 25 different buildings. You’ll manage a caseload of 48 students, handling both Teacher of Record (TOR) and Teacher of Service (TOS) responsibilities.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing Education or related field
- Experience working with students across a wide range of grade levels
- Proficiency in creating and managing Individualized Education Programs (IEP)
- Knowledge of and ability to implement assistive technology
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Familiarity with progress monitoring and consultative service models
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Provide direct instruction and support on a consultative or regular basis as outlined:
- Monthly or quarterly check-ins for the majority of students
- More intensive weekly services for students with greater needs
- Effectively collaborate and consult with interdisciplinary teams, families, and school staff
- Maintain accurate records of service delivery and progress updates
- Guide and assist with the integration and use of assistive technology to enhance student engagement and success
- Support case management duties across a multi-building caseload
