As a specialized educator, you’ll use your expertise to deliver tailored instruction and resources to students, ensuring they receive the support they need to thrive academically and socially. By facilitating inclusion in classroom environments and advocating for accessible learning, you’ll be an important part of each student’s academic journey.
Qualifications:
- Valid teaching credential for Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) or eligibility for appropriate California credential
- Experience working with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing is highly preferred
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to travel to different schools/sites as needed
- Commitment to promoting access, equity, and student growth
- Willingness to partner with families and multidisciplinary teams
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative instructional support to DHH students
- Develop and adapt lesson plans to meet individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and administrators
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation and reports
- Attend IEP meetings, offering insight and advocacy for student needs
- Facilitate accommodations and modifications to ensure full participation in school activities
- Liaise with families to support student learning at home and school
