Virtual Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing - WV
A contract opportunity is available for a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing providing telehealth services. This role is based in Hurricane, WV, and focuses on delivering specialized educational support remotely to students with hearing impairments.
Responsibilities include:
- Conducting virtual assessments and individualized instruction for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Collaborating with families, audiologists, and classroom teachers to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Utilizing telecommunication technologies to deliver effective, engaging lessons tailored to specific learning needs
- Monitoring student progress and adapting instructional strategies as necessary
- Providing consultation and resources to support access to the general education curriculum
- Maintaining accurate documentation and compliance with state and federal regulations related to special education services
Desired qualifications and experience:
- Certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Experience delivering telehealth or remote educational services
- Strong understanding of communication methods, audiological devices, and hearing loss impacts on learning
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to use video conferencing platforms and digital instructional tools effectively
