Teacher of the Deaf | Sandwich, Illinois

Key Qualifications:
- Valid state certification as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist or Teacher for the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Demonstrated experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing in school settings
- Strong understanding of assistive technology, communication methods, and individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Effective communication skills for collaboration with staff, families, and students
- Ability to adapt lessons and materials to meet diverse learning needs
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, adapting curriculum for accessibility
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and participate in IEP meetings as needed
- Serve as an advocate and resource for students and staff regarding hearing loss and communication strategies
- Travel between schools (for itinerant positions), with billable mileage to support your work across sites
- Utilize and recommend appropriate technology and resources to facilitate learning
- Monitor student progress and adjust instruction as necessary for best outcomes
