Audiologist Teacher of the Deaf | Cicero, Illinois

Qualifications and Preferred Experience:
- Valid state licensure or certification in Audiology, SLP with ASL certification, or Deaf/Hard of Hearing Education
- Experience working in educational settings, especially with students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and the ability to facilitate communication between students, peers, and staff
- Strong assessment, intervention, and advocacy skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Commitment to fostering a supportive, inclusive learning environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive hearing or language assessments and develop personalized educational plans
- Provide direct instruction, auditory training, or speech/language therapy tailored to individual student needs
- Consult with teachers, parents, and support staff to maximize learning access
- Recommend and facilitate use of assistive listening devices and technology
- Support students with communication strategies, self-advocacy, and social skills
- Maintain detailed progress records and contribute to IEP/504 meetings
- Promote awareness and understanding of deaf and hard of hearing needs within the school community
