Empower students with hearing loss to thrive in their academic journey by taking on a dynamic DHH Teacher role in the Saint Charles, IL vicinity. This contract opportunity offers the flexibility of serving as an itinerant resource across multiple sites or as a dedicated specialist within a middle school homebase, depending on your preference. You'll work a full-time schedule of 35 hours weekly, supporting students, collaborating with staff, and advocating for accessibility and inclusion. Billable mileage for travel between sites is provided, ensuring your commitment and flexibility are recognized.
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid certification/license as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Teacher
- Demonstrated experience working with DHH students in school settings
- Strong knowledge of IEP processes and accommodations/modifications for DHH students
- Proficiency with various assistive auditory technologies
- Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across school teams
Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instructional and consultative services to DHH students in general or special education classrooms
- Assess student needs and adapt curriculum to support individual learning styles
- Participate in IEP meetings, goal-setting, and progress monitoring for assigned students
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, SLPs, interpreters, and parents to foster inclusive environments
- Advocate for accessibility, ensuring students have appropriate supports/materials
- Travel to multiple locations as required (itinerant role), with mileage compensated
