Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid state teaching certification with an endorsement in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education
- Experience as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist or Teacher preferred
- Strong understanding of diverse communication modes (ASL, Signed English, oral approaches)
- Ability to collaborate with regular and special education staff, families, and support services
- Adaptable and organized, comfortable managing either itinerant responsibilities or establishing routines in a single campus
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students, adapting teaching approaches to meet individual needs
- Develop and implement IEPs, monitor progress, and document outcomes
- Travel between assigned schools, or dedicate support to a single middle school, depending on placement
- Offer consultation, resources, and training to staff on best practices for inclusion and accessibility
- Foster positive relationships with students and their families to encourage academic and social achievement
- Complete billable mileage reports as applicable for itinerant positions
