Step into a rewarding position supporting students as a Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. Key Qualifications:

  • Valid state certification as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist or Teacher for the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
  • Demonstrated experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing in school settings
  • Strong understanding of assistive technology, communication methods, and individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Effective communication skills for collaboration with staff, families, and students
  • Ability to adapt lessons and materials to meet diverse learning needs

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, adapting curriculum for accessibility
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and participate in IEP meetings as needed
  • Serve as an advocate and resource for students and staff regarding hearing loss and communication strategies
  • Travel between schools (for itinerant positions), with billable mileage to support your work across sites
  • Utilize and recommend appropriate technology and resources to facilitate learning
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instruction as necessary for best outcomes
