Key qualifications and experience:
- Valid teaching certification with endorsement for Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) or eligibility to obtain
- Previous experience working with DHH students in a school or similar environment
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) strongly preferred
- Experience with individualized education programs (IEPs) and adapting curriculum to meet diverse needs
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, families, and staff
Responsibilities:
- Provide instruction and support to a caseload of approximately 25 students, ranging from preschool through 8th grade, across multiple campuses
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop, implement, and monitor IEPs tailored to each student’s unique learning needs
- Serve as an advocate for students, fostering inclusive classroom environments and facilitating access to the full curriculum
- Conduct assessments, maintain detailed records, and communicate student progress with families and staff
- Offer consultation and training to general education teachers and staff regarding strategies and accommodations for DHH students
