Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Valid certification as a Teacher or Specialist for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
  • Thorough knowledge of current instructional strategies and technologies for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students
  • Ability to develop and modify Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, staff, and families
  • Experience with various communication modalities, such as ASL, auditory-oral techniques, or cued speech
  • Previous experience in a school setting preferred

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess students’ needs and identify strengths and areas for growth
  • Deliver specialized instruction adapted to individual student’s learning styles and needs
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and staff to support inclusion and classroom accommodations
  • Serve as an advocate and resource for families, providing information and training as needed
  • Contribute to the development and review of IEPs, maintaining accurate records and documentation
  • Create classroom resources and integrate assistive technology to maximize learning opportunities
  • Participate in team meetings, professional development, and ongoing communication with colleagues
