Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) - Morrisonville, IL

This exciting contract opportunity provides a dynamic role as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) Specialist and Teacher, working within schools in a rewarding and impactful environment. You’ll serve learners across Bond, Fayette, and Montgomery counties, helping to ensure that every student receives the individualized services and support they deserve to succeed.
This full-time position is prioritized, but part-time candidates with appropriate qualifications are absolutely encouraged to apply. Your expertise as an itinerant professional brings vital resources and advocacy directly to students throughout the area.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid teaching credentials with appropriate DHH endorsement (state certification required)
- Prior experience supporting Deaf/Hard of Hearing students in educational settings
- Strong knowledge of IEP development and implementation, as well as progress monitoring
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and/or experience with other communication modalities beneficial
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, families, and school staff
- Exceptional communication skills, flexibility, and a passion for student growth
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support services to students with hearing impairments in diverse school settings
- Collaborate with general education staff, related service providers, and families to ensure educational access and inclusion
- Travel between assigned locations across Bond, Fayette, and Montgomery counties as an itinerant specialist
- Develop and monitor individualized education plans or 504s tailored to each student’s needs
- Facilitate language development, auditory training, and adaptive strategies
- Offer consultative support and professional development as needed
