Empower students throughout the district as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist, directly supporting K-12 learners in an itinerant contract position. Work collaboratively across multiple school sites to deliver specialized instruction and advocate for accessible education, positively impacting the lives of students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Hold a current teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing or equivalent
- Demonstrated expertise in working with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, across K-12 grade levels
- Strong skills in sign language and familiarity with assistive listening technologies
- Proven ability to adapt curriculum and teaching methods for diverse learning needs
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with staff, families, and related service providers
- Reliable transportation for travel between school sites within the district
- Previous itinerant or multi-site teaching experience is preferred
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative instructional support to Deaf/Hard of Hearing students, adjusting strategies to individual and group needs
- Collaborate with general education teachers to ensure curriculum accessibility and promote inclusive classroom environments
- Conduct assessments, contribute to IEP development, and monitor student progress
- Serve as a knowledgeable resource for staff, students, and families regarding Deaf/Hard of Hearing issues and best practices
- Facilitate access to communication tools, technologies, and interpreters as required
- Offer training and guidance to school staff to increase awareness and foster understanding of the needs of Deaf/Hard of Hearing students
- Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with district and legal requirements
