Your role will be pivotal in supporting both oral and signed communication modes and guiding teachers on appropriate classroom adaptations.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing, or eligibility to obtain
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field
- Skill in both American Sign Language (ASL) and spoken language support techniques
- Prior experience working in educational settings with Deaf/Hard of Hearing students
- Strong communication, advocacy, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary teams
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction and support to Deaf/Hard of Hearing students in classroom and one-on-one settings
- Conduct ongoing assessment of students’ academic, social, and language development
- Develop and implement IEPs, collaborating closely with families and team members
- Provide resources and guidance to general education teachers for optimal student participation
- Serve as a communication bridge between students, staff, and families when needed
