Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (TDHH) | Clarksville, Tennessee
Empower students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing as a dedicated educational professional in the vibrant Nashville area, working under a full-time contract for the upcoming academic year. This opportunity centers around supporting diverse K-12 learners across various district hubs—including established Pre-K through Elementary sites and a newly opening Middle School program.
Beginning August 3, 2026, and continuing through the end of May 2027, you’ll serve on campus (no remote work) during standard school hours, Monday through Friday. Your role will flex between consultative support and direct instruction based on student needs. Assignments may involve traveling between multiple schools within the district, ensuring tailored educational access for your caseload.
Desired Experience & Credentials:
- Active Tennessee Department of Education certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing required
- Previous experience supporting students with hearing differences, preferably in school settings
- Knowledgeable in individualized education plans (IEPs), classroom accommodations, and consultative services
- Comfortable working collaboratively with general education teachers, audiologists, and families
- Up-to-date Tennessee fingerprint clearance (or willingness to complete for compliance)
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction, interventions, and consultative support to students K-12
- Develop and adapt educational materials to meet individual students’ needs
- Serve as a resource for staff and families, offering strategies for effective student support
- Collaborate in IEP meetings and maintain timely documentation
- Facilitate transition planning and self-advocacy skill development
