Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher - Downingtown, Pennsylvania

In this pivotal role, you will support approximately 34 students ranging from Pre-Kindergarten to 12th grade, working collaboratively with school teams across roughly 12 locations. Your expertise will be vital in offering individualized education, fostering communication access, and working within various school environments to nurture each student’s academic, emotional, and social development.
Key Qualifications:
- Pennsylvania Department of Education DHH K-12 (Instructional I or II) Licensure (required)
- Experience working with deaf and hard of hearing students, preferably across multiple grade levels
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for collaboration with students, families, and educational staff
- Ability to support a range of communication modalities, including American Sign Language (ASL), spoken language, or other relevant methods
- Passion for inclusive education and commitment to empowering all learners
Your Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction and support services for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) aligned with each student’s strengths and needs
- Partner with general education teachers to foster accessible and equitable classroom environments
- Serve as an advocate and resource for students, families, and colleagues on hearing-related educational strategies
- Participate in team meetings, IEP sessions, and professional development as needed
