Teacher of the Deaf in Downingtown, PA
Make a positive impact in the educational journey of students as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. This contract position offers the unique opportunity to serve students in Chester County, working with a diverse group across multiple campuses. You will provide vital support and instruction to approximately 34 students in Pre-K through 12th grade, collaborating with school staff to foster an inclusive and empowering learning environment.
This full-time role begins in December 2026 and continues through June 2027. You’ll engage with learners at various developmental stages, developing lesson plans tailored to their language and communication needs, and championing their growth both academically and socially.
Qualifications:
- Active Pennsylvania Deaf and Hard of Hearing K-12 Certification (Instructional I or II required)
- Experience teaching students who are deaf or hard of hearing, preferably in a school setting
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively across multiple campuses and grade levels (PK-12)
- Organizational skills to manage caseloads and documentation efficiently
- Ready and available to interview on Friday, Monday, or Tuesday
Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, individually and in small groups
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Consult and collaborate with general educators, staff, and families
- Monitor and document student progress
- Adapt curriculum and resources for accessibility
- Advocate for appropriate accommodations and communication supports
- Participate in professional development and team meetings
