Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education for the Deaf/Hard of Hearing, or related field
- Valid state certification to teach Deaf/Hard of Hearing students (or eligibility to obtain)
- Experience working in school-based settings preferred
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication methods for the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, positive classroom atmosphere
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to Deaf/Hard of Hearing students in accordance with IEPs
- Adapt curriculum materials and teaching strategies to meet students’ unique communication and learning needs
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to promote student success
- Attend and contribute to IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions
- Foster a respectful, affirming classroom culture that encourages self-advocacy and academic achievement
- Stay current on best practices and innovations in Deaf Education
