Key Qualifications:
- Experience as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Knowledge of IEP and 504 plan development and implementation
- Familiarity with NHSEIS or similar special education systems
- Strong understanding of assistive listening devices (hearing aids, FM systems, cochlear implants)
- Collaborative and communicative working style with families and multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to provide training and resources to educators regarding hearing loss and accessibility
- Commitment to upholding special education procedural safeguards and district policies
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction based on IEP goals and students’ unique needs
- Monitor classroom instruction and adapt methods as required by students’ plans
- Maintain thorough records and track student progress
- Engage with parents, audiologists, speech pathologists, and other specialists to optimize student support
- Oversee, troubleshoot, and coordinate devices and technology used by students
- Train school staff in understanding accommodations and using technology effectively
- Foster self-advocacy skills in students for greater independence in the classroom
- Participate in ongoing professional development and fulfill faculty responsibilities within the assigned building
