Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing Education or a related field
- Previous experience providing instruction and accommodations to students with hearing loss
- Proficient in utilizing special education software, particularly NHSEIS
- Strong understanding of IEP and 504 plan processes, development, and implementation
- Collaborative mindset with excellent communication skills for engaging with multidisciplinary teams and families
- Ability to manage, troubleshoot, and teach about student amplification devices (hearing aids, FM systems, cochlear implants)
- Commitment to professional development and adherence to state and district special education guidelines
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instruction based on evaluation and progress reports, contributing to IEP proposal development
- Engage actively with educational teams to craft and monitor effective IEPs and 504 plans
- Maintain thorough records and document student progress to inform instruction and share with stakeholders
- Support students in classrooms by monitoring and modifying instruction when necessary, guided by IEPs
- Provide ongoing consultation to families and collaborate with related service providers (audiologists, speech-language pathologists)
- Offer training to school staff on hearing loss, assistive technology, and necessary accommodations
- Ensure proper functioning of student amplification devices, handling troubleshooting and ordering when needed
- Foster student self-advocacy in managing equipment and accessing classroom supports
- Uphold procedural safeguards and all applicable district policies
