Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher - Sycamore, Illinois

Essential Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid teaching certification with specialization in Deaf / Hard of Hearing education
- Experience working in school settings with students who have hearing differences
- Proficiency with auditory, oral, and sign communication methods (including ASL)
- Ability to adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to meet diverse student needs
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with families, staff, and related service providers
- Comfortable utilizing and troubleshooting assistive listening devices and classroom technology
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instruction in inclusive and specialized classroom settings
- Assess student progress and modify educational plans, ensuring optimal outcomes
- Serve as a resource regarding hearing loss and communication strategies for school teams
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Advocate for accessible learning environments and provide staff training as needed
- Foster supportive relationships with students and their families, helping navigate available resources
