Teacher of the Deaf in Kenner, LA
Empower students as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) through an exciting full-time, contract opportunity for the 2026-2027 academic year. This virtual (VOCO) role allows you to connect with learners from the comfort of your location, supporting students in the New Orleans area. You’ll have the ability to shape individualized learning experiences, fostering a supportive and accessible classroom environment for students with hearing impairments.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Louisiana Department of Education certification and an active teaching license in your home state.
- Experience as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing or in a similar capacity, with proficiency in remote instruction methods.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, families, and school personnel.
- Commitment to student-centered educational practices, technology integration, and ongoing professional development.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging, standards-based instruction to DHH students via virtual platforms.
- Adapt curriculum and strategies to meet diverse needs and learning styles.
- Participate in IEP meetings, assessments, and progress reporting as required.
- Consult regularly with general education staff, support personnel, and families to maximize student success.
- Maintain thorough documentation and ensure compliance with district and state policies.
This flexible, full-time position (35 hours per week, 7 hours per day plus a lunch break, August 3, 2026 – May 27, 2027) offers professionals an opportunity to reach students across multiple grade levels while supporting their development in language, communication, and academic content areas.
