DHH Teacher | Leonardtown, Maryland

Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (or eligibility for certification)
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education or a related field
- Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing, preferably in a school environment
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication modalities
- Strong communication, organization, and collaborative skills
- Ability to develop individualized education plans (IEPs) and monitor student progress
- Passion for facilitating accessible learning and advocacy for student needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative instructional support to students grades PreK–12 with hearing differences
- Design and adapt lesson plans to accommodate various learning styles and communication preferences
- Collaborate with teachers, specialists, and families to ensure appropriate accommodations and modifications are in place
- Conduct assessments and participate in IEP meetings, contributing insights for student success
- Provide training and resources to staff on deaf education strategies
- Foster a supportive classroom environment that cultivates self-advocacy and independence among students
