Teacher of the Deaf in Mechanicsville, MD

Requirements:
- Valid teaching certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing, or eligibility for certification
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) preferred
- Previous experience teaching or supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to tailor instruction to meet individual student needs
- Willingness to collaborate with teaching staff, support personnel, and families
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, adapting curriculum as necessary
- Develop Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and track progress toward goals
- Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, audiologists, and interpreters to foster a fully accessible learning environment
- Offer resources, strategies, and professional guidance to colleagues and parents
- Promote self-advocacy, communication skills, and independence among students
- Attend and contribute to meetings and professional development opportunities as required
