Step into an exciting opportunity for the 2026/2027 school year as a part-time Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing! Make a significant impact by supporting approximately 43 students from Pre-K through age 22 using a collaborative and consultative service model. In this role, you’ll divide your time between providing direct support to students and empowering school staff to best meet the needs of those who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Qualifications:
- Active Massachusetts teaching license or endorsement as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or related field
- Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- School-based experience is preferred
- Must fulfill all state and district requirements for providing deaf and hard-of-hearing services
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction and consultation, prioritizing consultative services for most of the caseload
- Guide classroom teachers and staff to optimize student access to instruction and communication
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals, attending meetings to contribute valuable expertise
- Assess student needs and progress, keeping clear and timely documentation
- Collaborate closely with families, interpreters, audiologists, and other service providers
- Recommend adaptations, instructional strategies, and assistive technology
- Educate staff on individual student hearing and communication requirements
