Step into a meaningful role supporting students as a part-time Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing during the 2026/2027 school year. In this contract position, you'll have the opportunity to guide approximately 43 students from Pre-K through age 22 by providing both direct instruction and consultative services, empowering them to access classroom content and reach their goals.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Active Massachusetts teaching license or appropriate endorsement as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field
- Previous experience supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Preferred background in a school-based setting
- Familiarity with Massachusetts and school district requirements for deaf and hard-of-hearing services
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Offer consultative support to classroom teachers and assist staff in accommodating student needs
- Support student access to instruction and facilitate effective communication
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals; participate in IEP meetings
- Assist in student assessments, evaluations, and maintain accurate, confidential documentation
- Foster collaboration with classroom teachers, families, interpreters, and support professionals
- Recommend accommodations, assistive technology, and strategies for student success
- Guide staff in understanding students’ hearing and communication needs

This part-time schedule spans three days per week, with flexibility to be determined.
