Teacher of the Deaf in Midland, GA
Step into an important role supporting students as a Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in a dynamic K-12 educational setting. This onsite, full-time contract opportunity starts August 3, 2026 and runs through May 21, 2027, with the possibility of additional days for pre- and post-year planning. The position will likely serve multiple school buildings within the district, offering the opportunity to work with a diverse student caseload (to be determined as the school year approaches).
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Georgia Educator Certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education
- Experience supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing, preferably within a school setting
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable maintaining thorough daily service logs as required
- Willingness to travel between school sites within the district as needed
- Commitment to effective, compassionate student support and inclusive education
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing across K-12 grade levels
- Collaborate with general education staff, related service providers, and families to implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Develop and adapt instructional materials to meet students’ unique communication and learning needs
- Maintain accurate, timely daily logs of services provided
- Participate in IEP meetings, planning sessions, and professional learning opportunities
- Serve as an advocate for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students within the school community
