Step into a rewarding role supporting students as a part-time Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, providing essential services in a school setting. This contract opportunity allows you to work closely with a small, diverse caseload—serving 4-5 students ranging from elementary to high school—throughout the academic year from September 7, 2026, to June 25, 2027.

Responsibilities:

  • Offer expert consultative services in 30-minute weekly sessions for each student, focusing on their unique learning needs.
  • Implement specialized instruction and support as detailed in Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Develop, monitor, and update IEP goals specifically crafted for each student with hearing impairments.
  • Maintain thorough documentation and manage all necessary educational paperwork.
  • Serve as a resource for school staff and families, ensuring technology such as FM/DM systems, AAC devices, or cochlear implants are used effectively.
  • Foster inclusive learning environments and advocate for accessibility and understanding in all school settings.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Valid New York State certification as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (PK–12).
  • Proven experience working directly with deaf or hard of hearing students across various age groups.
  • Functional proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL).
  • Prior experience with assistive hearing technology, such as FM/DM systems, AAC, or cochlear implants.
