Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in Red Mountain, CA
Empower students with hearing differences to thrive in an inclusive learning environment by sharing your expertise as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. This onsite, part-time contract position spans the academic year from August 6, 2026, through May 27, 2027, and is located in the Ridgecrest, CA region near Red Mountain. Support a 1:1 caseload in partnership with a dedicated educational team, with additional details to be provided after spring break.
Qualifications and Experience:
- California credential as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) or eligibility to obtain one
- Proven experience working with Deaf or Hard of Hearing students in school settings
- Strong skills in individualized instructional planning and collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams
- Excellent communication, advocacy, and problem-solving abilities
- Genuine passion for fostering academic and social growth in Deaf/Hard of Hearing learners
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to Deaf or Hard of Hearing student(s) following individual education plans (IEPs)
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to implement accommodations and modifications
- Create a communicative, accessible classroom environment that nurtures language and literacy development
- Utilize specialized strategies and resources, including visual aids and assistive technology
- Track student progress, document outcomes, and participate in IEP meetings and team consultations
