Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Proficient understanding of various communication modalities (ASL, oral, total communication, etc.)
- Experience working in school settings or similar educational environments
- Strong collaboration and communication skills with students, families, and multidisciplinary team members
- Ability to create engaging, individualized instructional plans tailored to students’ unique needs
Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, adapting teaching strategies to diverse learning styles
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to promote accessibility and inclusion
- Participate in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Advocate for students’ needs and help foster a supportive, communicative classroom environment
- Maintain accurate records, provide assessments, and regularly communicate progress to parents and educational teams
- Ensure compliance with all district and state educational requirements
