Key Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid teaching certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (or eligibility for NM licensure)
- Experience adapting curriculum and instruction for students with hearing loss
- Strong skills in American Sign Language (ASL), auditory/oral strategies, and/or Total Communication
- Ability to collaborate with teachers, families, and support staff
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities
- A passion for supporting diverse learners and advocating for student access
Core Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in accordance with IEP goals and student needs
- Collaborate with classroom teachers on accommodations, lesson modifications, and accessible materials
- Conduct assessments and document student progress regularly
- Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and relevant professional development
- Serve as an educational resource on Deaf culture and instructional strategies for colleagues and staff
- Work onsite across assigned school locations within the district
