Remote Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing | North Carolina
A specialized teaching role is available for a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing providing telehealth services in Morrisville, NC. This contract position focuses on delivering educational support to elementary and middle school students who are deaf or hard of hearing, managing a caseload of 20-25 children. The role emphasizes both direct and indirect related services to meet individual student needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction and indirect support services tailored to students’ IEP and 504 plans.
- Provide itinerant services to a diverse group of students across elementary and middle school levels.
- Maintain communication with audiologists regarding equipment status and assist in its care.
- Collaborate on the development and implementation of individualized education programs (IEPs) and 504 accommodations.
- Support students’ communication needs; fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) is preferred, though only one student currently requires an ASL interpreter.
Qualifications/Experience:
- Experience working with deaf and hard of hearing students in school settings.
- Familiarity with telehealth platforms and remote service delivery.
- Knowledge of IEP and 504 plan development and requirements.
- Strong organizational skills to manage a caseload and equipment coordination.
- ASL fluency preferred for effective communication with students and staff.
