Key Qualifications:
- Valid state certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing Education (or eligibility)
- Experience working with children or adolescents who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Strong understanding of various communication modalities (ASL, oral, total communication, etc.)
- Ability to adapt curriculum to ensure accessibility
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, tailored to their individual needs
- Consult with general education teachers and support staff to ensure accessibility across the curriculum
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in compliance with special education regulations
- Collaborate with families to support student progress
- Utilize assistive technology and resources effectively
- Document student progress and maintain required records
