Qualifications and Preferred Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education or a related field
- Appropriate state teaching certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Experience in school settings highly valued
- Strong understanding of audiology equipment and assistive technology
- Proficiency with American Sign Language (ASL) preferred
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction, modifications, and consultation services to students who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Assess individual student needs and track progress
- Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and families to create and maintain an inclusive environment
- Advocate for student access to curriculum, extracurricular activities, and academic success
- Facilitate communication using multiple modalities, including ASL and oral communication as appropriate
- Attend and participate in IEP meetings; assist with goal setting and progress reporting
