Key Qualifications:
- Valid state certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (or eligibility to obtain)
- Experience working in school-based or pediatric settings preferred
- Strong understanding of auditory equipment, assistive technology, and individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Proficiency with various communication modalities, such as ASL, spoken language, and cued speech
- Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills
- Ability to adapt lessons and materials to meet individual student needs
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver instruction tailored to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, either in self-contained or inclusive classroom settings
- Conduct assessments and contribute to IEP development and implementation
- Support students in building communication, academic, and self-advocacy skills
- Consult with general education teachers and staff to ensure accessibility and facilitate appropriate classroom modifications
- Collaborate regularly with families and other service providers to maximize student growth
- Stay up to date with best practices and participate in ongoing professional development
