Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education or related field
- State licensure/certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (or eligibility to obtain)
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication modes used by students
- Previous teaching experience with deaf and hard of hearing students preferred
- Strong collaboration and communication skills to work with multidisciplinary teams, families, and general education staff
- Commitment to creating individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing in various educational settings
- Adapt and modify curriculum materials and teaching strategies to meet individual learning styles
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, interpreters, and support staff to ensure student success
- Conduct ongoing assessment of student progress and maintain accurate records
- Support students in developing self-advocacy and communication skills
- Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and professional development activities
