Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution.
- Valid Alabama Teacher’s Certificate.
- Meets Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) federal and state requirements, or demonstrates willingness to obtain compliance within the given timeframe.
- Holds (or willing to secure) all necessary licensure for Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) specialization in Alabama.
- Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing is highly valued.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instructional strategies, both individually and in small group settings, to students identified as deaf or hard of hearing.
- Adapt curriculum materials and teaching techniques to accommodate various learning needs.
- Advocate for and implement appropriate educational accommodations and modifications.
- Collaborate with educational staff, families, and administrators to develop and maintain effective individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Participate in regular meetings, including screening processes with peers who are familiar with district practices.
- Serve as a resource for colleagues and provide consultation on best practices for supporting hearing-impaired students.
