Teacher of the Deaf | Avondale, Arizona
Step into a meaningful role supporting K-8 students as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) Specialist for a full school year in a contract position. In this position, you’ll serve a caseload of approximately 25 students across ten campuses, collaborating closely with educators and families to foster inclusive, accessible learning environments. Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid certification or professional license as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist or Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Experience working with children who are deaf or hard of hearing, preferably in an educational setting
- Strong knowledge of IEP processes and documentation
- Ability to develop and implement individualized educational strategies
- Excellent communication skills, including proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and/or other relevant communication modes
- Flexibility and organizational skills to manage travel between campuses (mileage reimbursement provided)
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to K-8 students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Assess individual student needs and develop appropriate learning plans
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, school staff, and families to implement accommodations and interventions
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to comprehensive educational planning
- Travel across ten school sites as needed, ensuring services are delivered consistently
