Key Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing or related specialist credential
- Experience working with K-8 students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Strong understanding of assistive technology, language development, and instructional adaptations
- Excellent communication skills for collaboration with students, staff, and families
- Ability to travel between multiple school sites (mileage reimbursed)
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction tailored to the individual needs of students with hearing loss
- Conduct assessments and participate in IEP meetings, contributing to goal-setting and progress monitoring
- Consult and collaborate with classroom teachers to modify curriculum and classroom environments
- Provide guidance on amplification devices and communication supports
- Serve as a resource for faculty, staff, and families regarding best practices and advancements in Deaf education
