Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) - Palatine, IL

Qualifications and Skills:
- Valid certification or credential as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing or Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist
- Experience or strong understanding in providing educational services to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Ability to work as an itinerant teacher, supporting multiple locations as needed
- Excellent communication skills, including collaborating with staff, families, and students
- Familiarity with assistive listening devices and technology for students with hearing loss
- Commitment to creating inclusive educational environments
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction to students with hearing impairments within school settings
- Consult and collaborate with general education teachers and related service providers to modify curriculum and classroom activities
- Conduct assessments to determine students’ needs and monitor ongoing progress
- Provide training and support to staff and families regarding hearing loss, accommodations, and equipment
- Ensure the proper use and functioning of hearing assistive devices
- Advocate for and facilitate accommodations to support student access and participation
