Qualifications & Experience Sought:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing, or eligibility for such certification
- Experience working with DHH students in school settings
- Solid understanding of students’ educational, social, and emotional needs
- Proficiency with assistive listening devices, FM systems, cochlear implants, and interpreting services
- Familiarity with developing and implementing IEPs tailored to DHH students
- Strong collaboration skills to partner with classroom teachers, staff, and families
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Ability to adapt materials and curriculum to support diverse learners
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instructional support and consultation for DHH students
- Assess students to determine specific needs and skills for educational planning
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals customized to each individual student
- Collaborate with staff on accommodations and strategies to enhance accessibility
- Consult with families on progress, resources, and techniques to support learning at home
- Advocate for an inclusive environment and help facilitate ASL or cued speech support
- Participate in IEP meetings with parents, speech pathologists, and education teams
